Plant Identification
The science of plant identification, also known as taxonomic botany, requires a love of detailed observation and a patience with names. In return, your nature walks will feel more and more like a sequence of meetings with old friends, punctuated by the excitement of making new acquaintances. Knowing the names of the beings around you is part of feeling at home in the world.
While botanizing with friends or joining a nature walk are enjoyable excuses to stroll outside, a lot of taxonomy can also - and this comes a relief to the introverts among us - be learned from books and other resources.
