This project was started in 2007 and is funded by a large number of organizations with an interest in biological diversity. Authoritative information, assembled by scientists with expertise on each species, extensive documentation of citations and sources. Some of the language is technical, assuming a grounding in basic botany.

A series of BBC podcasts by professor Kathy Willis, director of science at the Kew botanical gardens, covering the economic and ecological importance of plant diversity and genetics.

In Defense of Plants:

A blog highlighting tidbits of colorful information about plants and a series of 45 minute podcasts on topics in plant biology.
